Chain Link Fence to be Installed!

The next sign that construction is imminent at the Library will be the installation of a chain link fence across the parking lot. The fence will separate the Library and its activities from the construction site excavation that will soon be underway. Parking will be severely cut and the stair way to the park, proper will be fenced off. Parking in the Library lot will be strictly limited to those using the Library; one hour parking will be enforced.

I'm please to see that the library expansion has gotten underway; it's been a long time coming! Congratulations!

One consideration that should be addressed - setting up the new bike path access as soon as possible. I understand the need to close off the existing access because of safety considerations, but delaying construction of the new access until the expansion project is completed is ridiculous.

The bike path is an attraction to many Briarcliff families, mothers with strollers, joggers, walkers, cyclists, dog owners, cross-country skiers etc. who want to enjoy a safe, traffic-free, wooded venue for exercise and relaxation. Last evening about 6PM I stopped by for a walk and while I was reading the small notice posted on the barrier 7 cyclists rode up to get on the path. They were surprised that suddenly their access to the trailway was gone. Waiting for up to 15 months for the new access to be completed is difficult to imagine.

I am requesting that the new bike path access be completed as soon as possible so Briarcliff residents can continue to use the trailway without having to drive to remote spots with limited parking. Thank you.
